Are You Too Young to Serve God?

Okay, so I’m going to get a bit personal here.

Some days, I've been feeling like I’m not old enough to do influential, big things. That I’m not old enough to write things for people older than me.

And all those fears about my age have been really trapping me down. I was scared to do big things—all because of this seemingly little thing—my age.

For those who have felt that way—that God can’t use you because you’re too young— you’re not alone.

As God states in 1 Timothy 4:12, “Don’t let anyone think less of you because you are young.” He instead instructs us to “be an example to all believers in what you say, in the way you live, in your love, your faith, and your purity.” In other words, He tells us that age doesn’t matter if we want to do things for Him, and for the good of others. If we continuously go to God, seek Him, obey Him, and use everything you do to glorify Him, age is only a number.

Have you ever seen a verse in the Bible stating that God commands people ages 20 and up to follow Him? Does He ever say that He will only speak to and lead adults?

I’m asking this because I’m certain I haven’t.

There is no age limit on following God. Look at David, for example. God gave him strength to defeat Goliath when he was only a youth. In some people’s eyes, he was merely a shepherd boy—but in God’s eyes, he was a young man of strong faith, and God used him.

Your age doesn’t matter—it’s your faith and who you are as a person that really does.

David trusted in God. As stated in 1 Samuel 17:45, David told Goliath that “I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel.”

David trusted in God, and he had faith that God would be on his side.

If you have faith that God will help you do whatever you do for Him—whether it be something small or big, He will be with you. He will help you and guide you.

Just think—if God can use a young shepherd boy with strong faith and make him a great king eventually, what can’t He do with your life? if you're dedicated to serving Him and putting your whole trust in Him (regardless of your age)...

He can do amazing things.
