A Bit About E. C. Colton

E. C. Colton is an author of clean contemporary fiction and writer of stories that delve into the deep, broken, soulful facets of life with delicate prose and a lot of drama. Her love for Christ, thought-provoking reads, and revolutionizing the young adult genre intertwine in her stories, including her debut novella, Shards of Sky.

When she’s not writing, you’ll find her in search of her next favorite tear-jerking read, scribbling poetry late at night, or counting down the days until autumn.

My Mission Statement

On my blog and written works, I strive to capsulize lessons and moments from my life, ones that have been turning points for me as a person, and turn those into something readers from all walks of life can connect with, learn, and grow from. Because we all go through trials of our own—no matter how minor or overwhelming they may seem—but through it all, I've seen countless times that trials bring people together.

Life is a journey.

Life is a journey—to the fullest extent of the word. We go through valleys and trials and pain. Sometimes we're standing on mountaintops overlooking the view. And other times, we're fighting through a forest with only vague whispers of a sunrise up ahead. But it's okay. Because in the journey, there is brokenness and beauty. There is messiness and tears, but there is also wholeness and joy. And on Quill of Hope, I want to reflect that, to show the brokenness and beauty that come with this crazy, nonsensical adventure called life.

These forests have a purpose.

I believe that beauty can spring from brokenness—in writing, but also more importantly, in life. My core message is revealing the beauty in broken moments spent in the valleys and showing you that through it all, God has a plan, and everything works out according to His purpose. That no matter what you have walked through, there is a reason for it all. And you'll see it, if you only look close enough.

I don't have it all together.

Sure, this is messy. Years from now, I'll probably look at this blog and laugh. But that's okay too, because on my blog, I want to be me. I want to be that person still figuring things out. That person who hasn't gotten it all together.

Because guess what? I haven't gotten it all together. But again, it's all part of the journey.

So will you join me?
